Popular Twitch streamer Félix ‘xQc’ Lengyel might well have made his return to Fortnite Battle Royale, but believes the game’s competitive scene is a “complete failure”.
Why does xQc think competitive Fortnite is trash?
The former Overwatch pro started streaming the game again following the introduction of arena mode, creating some hilarious moments alongside FaZe Clan’s Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney.
However, while the 23-year-old has stated that he had fallen in love with the game since he has been playing it, xQc has suggested that Epic Games’ venture into the esports scene has been a failure.
The esports overall is fucking trash,” xQc said during his May 8 stream. “It is unwatchable, it has no substance, they don’t know how to spectate it or make it exciting.
“The storylines are non-existent,” he continued, clearly annoyed by the current state of competitive. “The broadcast is boring, the dialogue is normy, the integration of personalities is unbearable and their vision for production is trash.”
Although xQc admitted that Fortnite has had its good moments, he continued by branding the game as “unbearable” in his passionate tirade.
He said: “Their integration of competitive gaming in a casual setup is fucking disgusting – it is unbearable as an esport, a complete failure.”
The Canadian streamer shares the opinion of many Fortnite professional players, who are clearly unhappy with the direction the game is heading in, with many even threatening to quit following the conclusion of the World Cup.
However, with the massive prize pools being offered by Epic Games – with the Fortnite World Cup offering a prize pool of $30 million alone – it’s hard to see any top players walking away, even if they don’t enjoy the game.
