Ninja stunned as major bug ruins match in Friday Fortnite tournament

Popular streamer and Fortnite Battle Royale superstar Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, and his duo partner Malachi ‘Reverse2k’ Greiner, were the victims of an unfortunate glitch as they played in the returning Friday Fortnite tournament.

Ninja and Reverse have been duo partners for a while now, regularly competing in the World Cup Qualifiers and performing strongly, but are yet to officially qualify for the July tournament.

May 31 saw the return of Daniel ‘KEEMSTAR’ Keem’s Friday Fortnite tournaments, as a host of prominent streamers took to challenging one another.

KEEMSTAR and FaZe Clan joined up to bring back Friday Fortnite.

Ninja and Reverse were playing against SypherPK and HighDistortion in the Losers’ Semi-Finals when the glitch happened.

The duo had split up in an effort to maximize their kills, when Reverse was eliminated in Pleasant Park. Ninja came in to clean up the mess, and went to get his partner’s ‘Reboot Card’. However, the card had glitched and was stuck in the ground, where it could not be recovered.

“I don’t see your – dude you’re in the ground,” said Ninja. “I can’t, I can’t. You’re in the ground dude. You’re literally in the ground I can’t get you. I swear to God.”

Reboot Cards were added to the game on April 10, and allow players to respawn teammates who have been completely eliminated from games. The idea matches rival battle royale Apex Legends, which sees ‘banners’ dropped as teammates are eliminated, that can be taken to beacons to bring them back into the match.

The tournament itself was a resounding success, with KEEMSTAR tweeting that tournament’s return pulled in over 10 million unique viewers.

Keem tweeted to show the incredible popularity of the returning tournament.

It was won by NRG Esport’s MrSavage and Benjyfishy, with Ninja and Reverse placing 3rd, but not before a controversial moment occurred.

Despite going on to win the game and progress to the Losers’ Final, Ninja and Reverse could undoubtedly have been cost by the glitch, which will need a quick fix, particularly with World Cup Qualifiers on-going.
