Epic Games have announced the release date and time for Fortnite Battle Royale’s v8.11 update, the third patch since the start of Season 8.Unlike previous updates, there has been very little information revealed about the upcoming v8.11 patch in the days leading up to its release.
That being said, we’re here to make sure you are kept up-to-date on what we do know about the update, including the release date and time, confirmed changes, and what to expect.
When does v8.11 go live?
According to a tweet put out by Epic on March 19, the v8.11 update is set to go live on Wednesday, March 20 at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET / 9 AM GMT.
Whether or not there will be any downtime for this update remains unclear, seeing as how there’s no mention of it in the announcement tweet.
If there turns out to be downtime, matchmaking will likely be disabled 20-25 minutes prior to the release time, so make sure to plan your matches accordingly.
Confirmed additions and changes in v8.11
The full patch notes for the v8.11 update will not be released until the patch itself goes live, so players will have to wait until then to see what the full contents of it will be.
However, in the in-game announcement screen has already confirmed that the previously-leaked Flintlock pistol will be added via this update.
Although not much information is know about this new weapon, it’s in-game description hints that it will be potent but difficult to handle, while leaks suggest that it will come in Common and Uncommon rarities.
The stats for both variants of the new pistol have also been leaked, and you can view them by visiting our Flintlock information and leaks page.
Epic have also confirmed that this new update will bring improvements to the game’s Social Services, so players may “notice irregularities” with their friend’s lists and party options while these updates are being implemented.
What else to expect in v8.11
Aside from the confirmed information above, there are some additional things players can expected to see in this update.
For one, Epic could implement some nerfs for the Baller vehicle, which has been the subject of some controversy since its addition last week.
While the casual player-base has received the new vehicle positively, many competitive players have deemed it to be too overpowered and unbalanced, especially when it comes to competitive modes such as the Gauntlet Test Event or the Scallywag Cup from this past weekend.
Seeing as how Epic have been relatively trigger happy when it comes to vaulting things recently, we could see weapon or two get removed in the v8.11 update, especially since the new Flintlock pistol is being added.
This could also include changes made to the Infantry Rifle, which has received a lot of criticism lately, with some even calling it the worst Fortnite weapon ever.
In fact, according to leaks, Epic and Legendary variants of the controversial weapon are already in development, and could be added as soon as this v8.11 patch.
There’s also a very good chance that new cosmetic items will be added to game files for future release, which data-miners will likely located and leak shortly after the update goes live, so be on the lookout for that.
