Fortnite Chapter 2 is almost entirely positive, but nothing can be perfect. There are some areas upon which Epic can improve. Here are five of them.
Fortnite Chapter 2 was one of the best Fortnite updates since Turbo-Building was introduced. The game truly feels new and fresh for the first time in well over a year.
That doesn’t mean that everything is perfect, however. There are some areas that fall short when compared to the older Fortnite seasons.
We as gamers are inherently negative, so let’s indulge that negativity with the five worst parts of Fortnite Chapter 2.
FPS drops on PC

’m a console player, so this problem doesn’t apply to me. Still, the bulk of the player base – at least the group with the loudest voice – plays on PC.
PC players are experiencing consistent frame drops, especially when the builds start to come out. It doesn’t matter whether you have a cheap setup of top-of-the-line PC – your frames are going to be dropping.
Thankfully, Epic is working on a fix for this. It’s a top priority on their Trello board and should be addressed with an upcoming patch.
The dang medals
“Awesome, guys, we got our top-50 Medal. Want to back out and go again?”
I understand why Epic is doing this. It’s another way to help young, unskilled players who have trouble getting kills and wins to have fun. Still, there’s nothing more annoying that one of these badges popping up when you’re in the middle of a fight.
End-game medals are the worst. Kills and placement badges in late-game scenarios are loud and confusing. Early-game medals are just, plain annoying. On top of that, there’s a chance these medals are adding to the FPS issue we talked about. There needs to be an option to turn them off.
Too many rockets
Rockets are everywhere in Fortnite Chapter 2. You can find them in about 10% of chests, which now spawn 100% of the time. It’s to the point where I’d rather carry a Fishing Rod at the beginning of a match because rockets are so common.
Rockets got nerfed in the player damage department with Chapter 2, but they still hit pretty hard and destroy structures like they used to. There are too many of them this season. Hopefully, this will change with some future updates.
EJ Dash nerf
The EJ Dash had one of the shortest lifespans of any Fortnite strategy. Epic removed it with Season 2 and seemed to treat it like an exploit rather than a legitimate mechanic.
This strategy was good for a lot of things. You could push players, get out of the storm, and outplay people who didn’t know how it worked. The EJ Dash increased the skill gap a bit. It was another thing to practice and it’s sad to see it go so quickly.

Epic removed the challenge grind from Fortnite Chapter 2. The new system is much more like the Apex Legends Battle Pass than it is the Fortnite Battle Pass of old and not everyone is happy with that.
I never thought I’d miss grinding challenges in Fortnite. In truth, I don’t really miss that element of it. I just miss knowing that I could get five levels if I wanted. If I was close to something I wanted, I knew what I had to do to go get it – and I could.
Now, though, you just have to play to get levels. Finishing a handful of challenges doesn’t net you the same rewards. You may only go up a level or two for completing the challenges. It’s much less clear than it used to be, which means the Battle Pass isn’t as engaging.
So, those are five of the worst changes to Fortnite Chapter 2. The update was one of the best that Epic has ever released, but they could make it even better with some improvements.
