If you haven’t heard of Fortnite before, chances are you’ve been living under a rock. This game has taken the world by storm, with over 40 million people playing Epic Games’ new title. There’s a lot of hours being invested in this game, as well as money. There’s a thriving online market, and people are making tons of money with Fortnite simply by streaming and participating in tournaments. If you want to learn how you, yourself can make by playing Fortnite, be sure to follow along below. It won’t be quick, and it takes a lot of work, but it’s certainly possible to make some good cash playing this hit video game.
The first way you can make money by playing Fortnite is with streaming the game on Twitch as you play. Newcomers aren’t going to make money right away, but once you can build up an audience, you can make some big bucks, well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, actually.
The best example for making money off of streaming Fortnite on Twitch is probably Tyler Blevins, going with the gamer tag “Ninja.” He broadcasts himself live on Twitch, and people actually pay to watch him play, usually because he’s entertaining, they enjoy the game, or they’re looking for some new skills to pick up. Blevins is actually pulling in well over $500,000 per month in revenue just from streaming money. This can include sponsorships, advertisements, and bits and subscriptions that viewers will pay for.
It’s worth noting that you cannot just start streaming and make this sort of money. It’s actually very rare for Twitch streamers to make a lot of money streaming games. First, it takes a ton of work, and you have to be online almost all the time — you don’t want to miss chances of other big streamers “hosting” your stream on their channel, and you want to be sure you’re on during peak hours when people are watching. Aside from that, it’s really a stroke of luck, as many streamers themselves will tell you.
There are a couple things to keep in mind, if you do start streaming:
- Get a good webcam: a good webcam is important because your viewers want to see you and your expressions to different things in the game. They want to see your personality shine through, which is generally how you form a connection with them, and then eventually, they subscribe or give you bits.
- Make sure you have a good Internet package: you need fast Internet speed, as streaming your games online and trying to keep a constant, persistent connection to the game servers can take up a lot of bandwidth, especially if you’re communicating with your viewers on different platforms at the same time.
- Don’t quit your job. As many people will tell you, it’s important to gain yourself an audience and a decent following in order to be able to replace your income before doing something rash like quitting your job.
Another way you can earn money by playing Fortnite is with tournaments. If you get good enough, you can take part in online and in-person tournaments all around the world. There’s usually an entry fee that you’ll have to pay, but if you’re skilled enough — and with a stroke of luck — you can win prize pools to gain some revenue. Online tournaments will usually have small prize pools — often not much more than $200. But, if you get really skilled, you can join the big leagues and try your hand at winning a couple thousand
The last way you can make money by playing Fortnite is with coaching. Fortnite has become super popular, and everyone is trying to get really good at the game. Unfortunately, most people have trouble doing this on your own, and so, some will actually pay you to play alongside you in order to learn some sweet Fortnite skills. You can sell your Fortnite skills on the platform BidVine, where people will actually pay for those services. Some will even just give you their account information in order for you to get online and win a select amount of games for them. Sometimes single wins will net you around $10, whereas something like three wins could get you as much as $25.
As you can see, there are a lot of ways that you can make money with playing Fortnite. It’s certainly not easy to win money by playing Fortnite, but with some hard work and dedication, you could eventually start raking in the dough.
Chapter 3 Season 2 Live Event: Everything we know so far
The first live event of Chapter 3 is expected to take place in less than six weeks. Here’s everything we know so far, based on various leaks.
Leaked Map Stages
All future stages for the territories controlled by both The Seven and Imagined Order have been leaked by data-miner Hypex. The maps show the Resistance will retake control of most of the Island, leaving only Command Cavern and Loot Lake for the IO. The final stage will lead the story directly into a live event, with the Imagined Order having little options left for victory.
Leaked Quest Voice Line
Epic also recently added new voice lines for the upcoming Week 6 Quests which, when reviewed closely, appear to tease the main story of a new live event. The Agent Jones character claims “one of the IO’s Doomsday devices is now in production”, seemingly hinting that the new event could be related to Chapter 2 Season 2’s The Device, which was also focused around a “Doomsday Device”.
A transcript of the Agent Jones voice lines can be found below:
“This will not come as a surprise, but IO management loves Doomsday machines – loves them! There’s even a doomsday division at HQ, oh man their softball team is awful but they will one day destroy us all so… kind of a wash. We have very credible intel that one of the IO’s Doomsday devices is now in production. We need to find out everything we can while we still can. Hit the field, I’ll prep the cameras . . . I have a very bad feeling that we are not ready for what we’re gonna find out.”
According to Fortnite data-miner GMatrixGames, a new Landmark code-named ‘DDMachine’ has been added to the game’s tags, suggesting that the Doomsday Device described by Agent Jones could be added to the map in the future.
Less than six weeks remain until the potential live event. We’ll keep you updated with the latest leaks and official announcements.
Boogie Bomb and Rift-To-Go Unvaulted Until April 25
In preparation for the upcoming item vote, the Boogie Bomb and Rift-To-Go have both been unvaulted for a trial period until April 25.
Players can now find the items scattered throughout the Island from Chests, Llamas, Supply Drops, Loot Sharks and ground loot. Once the short trial period ends on April 25 at 8AM ET, new gold funding stations will go live in-game on the following day to let players “fund” the item they want to see return permanently (for the rest of Season 2). The item that becomes 100% funded first will automatically be reintroduced to the loot pool as soon as the goal, of which the exact value is unknown, is reached.
We’ll keep you updated on which item gets unvaulted.
Leak: S.T.A.R.S. Team and El Chapulín Colorado to Return Very Soon
Fortnite has re-added multiple Item Shop sections to its API, meaning they will be available very soon. Five existing sections have also been removed, suggesting Epic doesn’t plan to bring those Sets back to the Item Shop for a while.
Re-added Item Shop Sections:
- S.T.A.R.S. Team
- El Chapulín Colorado
- Wu Wear (new)
Removed Item Shop Sections:
- Silk Sonic
- Chloe Kim
- Cobra Kai
- Turn The Music Up
The ‘Wu Wear’ section, which was added to the API today, will contain the new Wu-Tang Clan cosmetics; featuring two Outfits, two Bundles and more.
We’ll keep you updated if any additional sections are changed.
